The Persian script is turned into an ornament. Covering the white walls of the museums, the characters serve Forouhar as “paper” for her own text. The room becomes a “written room”. Whereas the white walls of the gallery room are raised to a universal norm and an unmarked instance, the Oriental ornament stands for difference or the deviating.
The writing is also strange, if not alien, because it is illegible for Western visitors – as an “incomprehensible” text it becomes a pure ornament. In defying attempts by Western visitors to assign its meaning, the script remains locked into its irreducible pictorial graphicness and indissoluble representation. The meaning cannot be grasped. at best, the inscribed ping-pong balls, which cover the base of the installation, can be grasped in the tactual sense. The legibility is made even more difficult by the movement of the ping-pong balls, which due to their spherical form also offer no stable vertical or horizontal reading axes. they form new patterns over and over again, are always in motion, and become incoherently disjointed.
Even if one has a command of Persian, the characters prove to be nothing more than word fragments and syllables, which are not subject to a linear order. The script ornamentation covers the whole room. Viewers entering the rooms are surrounded by patterns, forcing them to give up their sovereign, distanced standpoint.

INTERIORS TO BEING takes visitors and invited artists into an intimate encounter within the homes, gardens and streets of Berlin as well as the lives of strangers.
INTERIORS TO BEING spans time and space as a collective happening through the cityscape of Berlin. Six curators from Berlin have developed formats around the specifics of the work of a total of 51 artists and curators. The chosen formats range from traditional exhibitions, walks, salons and discussions to gatherings and performances.
The project unfolds over the course of the month of July in six chapters that flow into one another, occasionally overlapping. INTERIORS TO BEING expands radically outwards, realizing half of its projects in Berlin’s public space.
The city of Berlin is a partner of INTERIORS TO BEING as any curator or participating artists in the program would be. The cityscape functions anthropomorphically–with the city’s growth and continual change impacting the way artists move within it. INTERIORS TO BEING internalizes these changes through the framework of its community. All contributors to INTERIORS TO BEING are part of the extensive creative network of PICTURE BERLIN (founded in 2009, a not-for-profit artist initiated hybrid residency/art academy), which is a community made up of more than two hundred international artists and curators, two-thirds of whom are based in Berlin.
The red thread running through all events is the dérive, a term devised by Situationist Guy Debord to describe an aimless wandering through different urban environments that leads to the development of a psycho-geographical awareness. This concept beautifully sums up the way INTERIORS TO BEING works as a project in the city of Berlin.

Century-old lore holds fast to the idea that a mirror is not only a reflection but a window from the facade of appearance into one's soul. For the superstitious, breaking a mirror tempts malignant forces, soul-splintering demons and seven years of bad luck. But what of the cracks at the edges of ancient mirrors or the spider web splintering across the screen in your pocket? We have yet to devise a reflection of ourselves that can weather time or violence. For what spills forth from cracks? What use is the time you spend looking in the mirror? For the survival of our souls we need to reflect one another and cultivate solidarity. To turn away from capitalist hegemony we must abandon our reflection and turn towards the other humans, and pull each other up through the cracks.

Kaum ein Fotograf kam den Politikern seiner Zeit so nah wie Volker Hinz (1947 – 2019). Seit Anfang der Siebzigerjahre des 20. Jahrhunderts begleitete der stern-Fotograf sie bei Wahlkämpfen, Auslandsreisen, Konferenzen, großen Reden – und manchmal bis ins Eigenheim. Sein Blick auf Persönlichkeiten wie Willy Brandt oder Deng Hsiao Ping, Helmut Kohl oder Joschka Fischer folgte seinem feinen Gespür für den schlüssel- oder symbolhaften Moment, für spannungsreiche Beziehungen, Macht und Ohnmacht, Tragik, aber auch Komik vor und hinter den Kulissen. „Hinznah”, wie der Hamburger selber sagte. In seinen Politikerporträts scheinen menschliche Seiten auf, die bei Inszenierungen vor Fernsehkameras verborgen bleiben. Das Verhältnis zwischen Medien und Politik reflektieren diese Bilder immer mit.

Thanks to the artist researcher and activist Joanna Wong, I have been well informed of the situation in Hong Kong since the beginning of the movement. So when I saw the Hyperallergic article about the protest zines gathered and distributed by the artist collective Zine Coop, I thought people in Paris should know about this. The exhibition Freedom Hi! happened in many places in the world, I welcomed it at 本 \hon\ books. To cover the cost production of the exhibition, I decided to make a catalogue box set of 19 zines, with an index of all them and an interview of one of ZineCoop founders Forrest Lau.
Dank der Forscherin und Aktivistin Joanna Wong bin ich über die Situation in Hongkong seit dem Beginn der Bewegung gut informiert. Als ich also den Hyperallergic-Artikel über die vom Künstlerkollektiv Zine Coop gesammelten und verteilten Protest-Zines sah, dachte ich, dass die Menschen in Paris davon wissen sollten. Die Ausstellung Freedom Hi! fand an vielen Orten der Welt statt, ich begrüßte sie bei 本 \on\ books. Um die Produktionskosten der Ausstellung zu decken, beschloss ich, einen Katalog mit 19 Zines zu erstellen, mit einem Verzeichnis aller Zines und einem Interview mit Forrest Lau, einem der Gründer von Zine Coop.

Das AAP Archive Artist Publications nimmt dieses Jahr an Kunst im Karree, dem Wochenende der Offenen Ateliers in Schwabing und Maxvorstadt, teil.

Dokumentation zur künstlerischen Praxis von Marianna Buchwald.
Marianna Buchwald - Geboren in Deutschland. Ihre Eltern, die Künstler Hella und Hans-Ulrich Buchwald, gründeten 1969 das Maskentheater Scharnier-Theater Hannover. Das Scharniertheater engagiert Tänzer, Schauspieler und Musiker sowie Choreographen und Regisseure aus aller Welt. Durch den Kontakt mit dem französischen Pantomimen Jean Soubeyran entschied sich Marianna für ein Pantomimenstudium an der Internationalen Hochschule für Tanz und Theater, Folkwang Hochschule Essen. Im Jahr 1980 zog sie nach Chicago. Dort unterrichtet sie Dynamische Pantomime am MoMing, dem Goodman Theatre und dem Cultural Arts Center CCS St. Mels. Ihr Studium ermöglichte es ihr, ein Bewegungsvokabular zu entwickeln, um Stücke mit dynamischem und vitalem Charakter zu gestalten. Ihr Talent, das groteske Absurde mit dem tragischen Konkreten zu verbinden, kommt in fließenden oder manchmal abrupten und intensiven Bewegungen zum Ausdruck.
Immer neugierig, die Künstler ihrer Umgebung kennenzulernen, nahm sie an der Arbeit des Tänzers Bill T. Jones teil, arbeitete mit dem Multimediakünstler Ping Chong und dem Mimen Rob List aus New York. Inspiriert von Ping Chongs Art, Filmprojektion, Ton und Licht mit Stimme, Sprache und Bewegung zu einer totalen Theatererfahrung zu verbinden, entschied sie sich 1983 für ein Studium der Performance Art an der School of the Art Institute in Chicago.
Die Themen ihrer Arbeiten, sowohl die für ihre Studenten choreographierten Ensembles als auch ihre Solo-Auftritte, sind oft von der Welt der Märchen und des Fantastischen inspiriert. Sie tragen Titel wie: "Impulse 1982, The Making of Man 1983, Red Beast 1983, Spanish Fairytale 1984, Between Night and Day 1985 und Chamelion Games 1985, Dangerous Fields 1985".
Bei ihren Stücken handelt es sich nicht um reine Pantomime, sondern um Kompositionen aus Elementen, die vom modernen bis zum primitiven Tanz reichen, um den Einsatz von Stimme und Wort sowie von Objekten und Masken, um Tonaufnahmen und Diaprojektionen.
Ihre Arbeit bewegt sich auf verschiedenen Ebenen des theatralen Ausdrucks.
