The cityscape functions anthropomorphically–with the city’s growth and continual change impacting the way artists move within it. INTERIORS TO BEING internalizes these changes through the framework of its community. All contributors to INTERIORS TO BEING are part of the extensive creative network of PICTURE BERLIN (founded in 2009, a not-for-profit artist initiated hybrid residency/art academy), which is a community made up of more than two hundred international artists and curators, two-thirds of whom are based in Berlin.

Johann und Georg Gruhl, Vater und Sohn, sind Möbeltischler. Johann Gruhl hat erhebliche Steuerschulden angehäuft; seine Situation verschlechtert sich, als sein Sohn zur Bundeswehr eingezogen wird. Am Ende seiner Dienstzeit erhält Georg Gruhl den Befehl, durch ziellose Fahrten mit einem DKW MUNGA Geländewagen den für die routinemäßige Inspektion erforderlichen Kilometerstand zu erzeugen, fährt aber stattdessen nach Hause. Gemeinsam präparieren Vater und Sohn Gruhl den Jeep und verbrennen ihn unter Absingen von Litaneien auf offener Straße. Die anfänglich als politisch motiviert eingestufte Straftat wird im Laufe der Verhandlung und nach der Anhörung des Kunstprofessors Büren als eine Form der Anti-Kunst (Happening) neu bewertet. Vom örtlichen Amtsgericht werden sie zu vollem Schadensersatz und wegen groben Unfugs zu sechs Wochen Haft daher milde verurteilt.

AMP WALL MONUMENT CONFRONTATION recontextualizes the Otto-von-Bismarck monument at the Deutsches Museum (Boschbrücke, Munich) using sound and performance. To call attention to the imperialistic, nationalistic, and colonial contexts, a sculpture and counter monument consisting of 21 guitar amplifiers has been installed for one day in front of the monument. Seven electric guitars were connected to the sound system. An ambient drone composition was performed on them with seven guitarists for four hours.
AMP WALL MONUMENT rekontextualisiert das Otto-von-Bismarck-Denkmal im Deutschen Museum (Boschbrücke, München) mittels Sound und Performance. Um auf die imperialistischen, nationalistischen und kolonialen Kontexte aufmerksam zu machen, wurde für einen Tag ein Skulptur- und Gegenmonument aus 21 Gitarrenverstärkern vor dem Denkmal installiert. Sieben E-Gitarren wurden an das Soundsystem angeschlossen. Auf ihnen wurde vier Stunden lang mit sieben Gitarristen eine Ambient-Drone-Komposition gespielt.
